Are you the Fastest Picker in the West?
Friends of Dumbarton Foreshore is challenging the people of West Dunbartonshire to get involved with their litter pick games throughout October. Have you got what it takes?
If you think you're game enough then you can get involved through their Facebook page. No team required, this is a solo quest. Only requirements are a willingness to clean up any area of your choice, photograph your find and post under the categories given.
Organiser Zoe Were said: “Every Friday morning, new categories of Litter Challenge will be posted, such as 'How Did That Get Here?', 'Best Pair' and 'Oldest Litter Find'.
"Participants can post their entry photos throughout the week, and there will be prizes donated by local people and businesses.
"At the end of the month, the public may vote on their favourite entry. The winner will receive a rather unusual trophy, a bottle of champagne, and the coveted title of 'Fastest Picker in the West!'"
There are a few simple rules that apply to all gamers. There is no age limit, however adult participants must put in place strategies to control and supervise little challengers. Protective gloves must be worn, a litter picker used including a disposable bag that can be sealed, social distance guidelines must be adhered to - otherwise, it’s game over.
Zoe added: “The idea behind the Games is really just a bit of fun for people, without putting anyone at risk during these times.
"We have a lot of members and new members having a go during lockdowns, and it’s a way to keep in touch. People enjoy seeing our weird finds and are cheered up by seeing the area looked after.”
Any local businesses who wish to donate prizes then please contact them through the Friends of Dumbarton Foreshore Facebook page.
