Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Clydesider Creative is delighted to present the first West Dunbartonshire–wide Heritage Festival, celebrating the amazing and proud heritage found throughout local communities.

With over 40 events taking place from Clydebank to Dumbarton, through the Vale and out to Kilmaronock during May’s Local and Community History Month, there is something for everyone. What’s more, most events are absolutely FREE.

At Clydesider, we have also been busy with our own heritage project, “In Peace & Revolution,” which celebrates the stories of inspiring local community activists. You can learn more about these stories during the festival through an opening film screening, a photography exhibition, and interactive events in collaboration with Isaro, Knowetop, and Improving Lives. Together, these explore the rich tradition of activism that runs through West Dunbartonshire.

However, the festival is not just about activism. It celebrates all aspects of local heritage—from the ancient mysteries of the Cochno Stone to local writers and artists, as well as the natural beauty of Havoc Meadow and Balloch, and everything in between. We are thrilled that so many groups and organisations have come together to take part in this first festival, and we look forward to welcoming you to these fascinating events.

Join us for guided walks, talks, hands-on workshops and taster sessions, exhibitions, film screenings, discussion groups, open days, and more.

Please note that some events require advance booking. Full details, including how to book and accessibility information for each event, can be found in the full programme on the Clydesider website :https://www.clydesider.org/events/
