Salvaged Metal Art

A little over a year ago we introduced you to Jack Smyth, the talented young man hoping to create change one weld at a time and creator of Salvaged Metal Art

Since the article in Issue 11, Jack has to continued to hone his skills and improve his knowledge on his craft. "I have been carrying on with my art and adapting it to suit with whatever has came up on a daily basis, as you know with this lockdown, you never know what is going to come up."

Keeping Busy

While Jack had a lot of plans for the year, which unfortunately have been put on hold, this hasn't stopped him creating beautiful pieces of art and furniture in his workshop.

From business card holders to wall clocks, Jack has been turning scrap metal and car parts into valuable, everyday useful items. His most popular pieces during lockdown was fire-pits, made from unused car wheels and clocks made from spare car clutches.

Motivation during Lockdown

Like many people, Jack has been feeling the effects of isolation and not being able to spend time with his friends and family.

He has been doing everything that he can to keep himself busy and motivated, including sharing #motivationalmonday quotes on his personal social media pages to help his friends and family

"I've been sending friends motivational quotes that motivate me. I know I have been feeling rubbish about everything that's going on this year and I just wanted to share to maybe help other people too."

Currently Jack is working on his biggest piece to date...a table made from a crankshaft. He has been taking his time putting it all together and I am sure will agree it is looking fantastic.
