Denny Ship Model Experimental Tank, Scottish Maritime Museum, G82 1QS

Free - Sign up on the day

Pre 1925, rowing once played an important part in Dumbarton, and now Skylark IX Community Rowing are working to bring it back again. Our colourful skiffs (row boats) were built at the Scottish Maritime Museum by the local community, some in addiction recovery, and all in the name of Skylark IX – a Dunkirk Little Ship who remains a local symbol of remembrance and hope. See the skiffs up close, learn the lingo and our history, and try out rowing on dry land at the Denny Tank Museum. No experience necessary, suitable for all ages.

Denny Tank Museum is not wheelchair accessible. There are 11 steps up to the main entrance. Single cubicle toilets are inside the museum on the upper floor, accessed by another staircase. This activity will take place on the grounds in front of the museum. Limited free car parking available outside the museum. We want to make rowing as accessible as possible for everyone in our community, and there are a variety of ways we can adapt the row for people’s individual needs so please chat to us at Skylarkix.co.uk
