Duncan Mills Memorial Slipway, by Maid of the Loch, Balloch

Free - sign up on the day

Pre 1925, rowing once played an important part in Dumbarton, and now Skylark IX Community Rowing are working to bring it back again. Our colourful skiffs (row boats) were built at the Scottish Maritime Museum by the local community, some in addiction recovery, and all in the name of Skylark IX – a Dunkirk Little Ship who remains a local symbol of remembrance and hope. Come learn about our history and heritage and try your hand at rowing with our open community rowing session - 15 minute taster sessions on the water, all safety equipment and gear provided. No experience necessary, suitable for ages 16-99! Subject to weather conditions.

There are public toilets accessible at the Duncan Mills Memorial Car Park, including accessible toilet. Free, limited car parking is available at the slipway. The pier is a 10 minute walk from Balloch train station. We want to make rowing as accessible as possible for everyone in our community, and there are a variety of ways we can adapt the row for people’s individual needs so please chat to us. www.Skylarkix.co.uk
